My Top 5 Pantry Items for Cleaner, Tastier CoffeeCoffee is one of those items that gets over analyzed in the media. Today coffee will save your life, tomorrow it will kill you. Seriously, Google it. Welcome to the wonderful world of trying to figure out what you should & shouldn’t eat/drink when you’re attempting to be healthy. My mantra is always moderation. I mix it up with my coffee & also, I don’t drink it every day. Some days I have green tea, others I have matcha, on another day I may wake up to a bloody mary #party…. You do you, I’ll do me & we will both be better for it! There are definitely ways to dress up your coffee without taking in unnecessary chemicals & added sugar though – I’m going to walk you through what I have in my pantry to keep myself from drinking boring black coffee (even though sometimes, that’s all I have time for).
1. Bulletproof Coffee
Don’t be fooled, not all coffee is created equal. If you’re a coffee connoisseur you’re probably only shopping based on taste & smell, but what about health? Did you know that coffee can be grown to be less acidic? What about mold toxins? Let me do you a huge favor, if you’ve never heard of mold toxins in your coffee, let me Google that for you. Take a look at the scholarly articles & scientific studies & then see if you’re capable of simply grabbing what smells good off the shelf at the grocery. My go-to brand of coffee is Bulletproof & I legit buy it at a local pharmacy. Why? It tastes phenomenal & I trust the brand.
2. Nutpods
Sometimes I like my coffee black, but sometimes I don’t. Most of the time, you bet I’m lazy though. In order to be lazy I need premade “creamer” to add to my coffee or else I’m going to make a big mess in my kitchen & then leave it there. I found Nutpods while doing my first Whole30 (clean eating, 30-day challenge) & carried a lot of the habits into my normal, everyday life. Why? Because the stuff you find while you’re doing a Whole30 has minimal ingredients & no chemicals. Purified water, coconut cream, almonds, natural flavors – that’s it, that’s what’s in the Nutpods Original Unsweetened. Oh, let’s not forget, it’s actually delicious!
3. OMghee & Vital Proteins – Collagen Peptides
Why are these two listed together? Because the only reason I wouldn’t use them together is if I were out of one of them. I add a tablespoon of my favorite ghee to my coffee & then a scoop of the collagen peptides, but don’t forget to blend. I mix these all together in my Ninja while I pray to someday be cool enough to own a Vitamix. The result is a frothy, foamy, fantastic concoction that aids in the vitality of my skin, hair, tendon, cartilage, bones, and joints. If you’re sitting there wondering why I’m putting butter in my coffee… it’s for brain health! I’m not a medical professional though, so don’t take my word for it, get yo’ research on.
4. Homemade Creamer
Sometimes, on Sundays, I feel Susie Homemaker-ish so I make my own creamer! This happens maybe… every other month. Regardless, every single time I do get the wild hair to make it, I use Dr. Axe’s recipe. It’s pretty delicious! Sometimes I throw some cinnamon in it or other fun stuff just to mix it up. Get wild wit’ yo’ coffee creammmaaaa.
Yum!! These all sound delicious. I need to try to ghee and collagen peptides mix!! And seriously…coffee is so controversial! (Insert eye roll!) xx
I neeeed the OHMGHEE! It sounds amazing! Also, need to look into mold toxins. I’m hoping my good local coffee doesn’t have it!
